The 39th European Congress

The 39th European Congress of the Theosophical Society on the theme “Healing Oneself, Healing the World” will soon take place, from August 1st to 6, at the Exhibition Centre of the University of York in England. The programme comprises lectures and talks from known theosophical speakers, including Tim Boyd, International President of the TS. There will be meditation sessions, discussion groups and a Q&A panel. You can view the full programme at https://theosophicalsociety.org.uk/york-2022-programme.

The programme will be in English with most lectures and talks translated into Spanish. All registered participants will receive relevant information together with links to Zoom two days before the beginning of the Congress. We would much appreciate a contribution of £20 or more to cover expenses related to the organisation of the Congress. You will be directed to the donation page after you have sent your registration.

Programme

The programme includes lectures and symposia. There will also be artistic and cultural programmes. The language of the Congress is English.

There will also be an opportunity to visit Howard Castle, a historic building in the north of England with ornate interiors and beautiful landscaped gardens.

Venue

The 39th European Congress will be held at the University of York Exhibition Centre (Heslington, York YO10 5DE, UK – https://yorkconferences.com/). York is a historic city in Northern Yorkshire, England, with Roman roots and a Viking past. It is a popular tourist destination that attracts visitors with its medieval old town, York Minster and various cultural activities. The University is in the southeast of York, about 20 minutes’ walk or bus ride from the city centre.

Accommodation and Prices

Full board accommodation at the student residence right next to the Exhibition Centre in single rooms. Meals are vegetarian or vegan.

Full board includes registration, accommodation, meals, programme, taxes and coffee and tea breaks: £575.

Daily rate without accommodation is £36 and includes lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments and all lectures.

It is possible to stay at the student residence for up to two nights after the Congress (August 6 and 7) for sightseeing in the region. Accommodation with breakfast included: £52 per person per night.

We are excited about the first-ever World Congress held in Asia! Our members in Singapore have been making preparations for more than a year, and are looking forward to welcoming their Theosophical sisters and brothers from around the world. Singapore is a beautiful, multicultural, world-class city with a thriving Theosophical group. We hope you can attend!

A TS World Congress is held not more than once in seven years, so join this one! Previous Congresses were held in Rome (2010), Sydney (2001), Brasilia (1993), Nairobi (1982), New York (1975), Salzburg (1966), Geneva (1936), Chicago (1929), Adyar (a Jubilee Congress  1925), Paris (1921).

PROGRAM

Our present actions shape the future. It is the work we do now within ourselves and for others that determines what the Theosophical Society will look like in years to come. This Congress is to encourage us to actively participate in the NOW, to come to a shared vision for our future.

The Congress will kick off on Saturday morning on 4 August so arrivals are to be scheduled 3 August.

Featured presenters include Mr Tim Boyd, President of the TS  and Dr Cassandra Vieten, President of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, California, USA

Program will include Lectures, TIP-talks, Presentations, Explore Groups, Grand Discussion. Public Lecture in the Regional English Language Centre. Chinese Opera, Evening by Singapore Lodge, Half-day Outing.

This is a working conference for those who are active in TOS work. We will review our accomplishments since our last conference in 2013 and make plans for the next five years. All active TOS workers are welcome, whether or not they are members of the TOS. As an unexpected extra, 9 August is a National Holiday in Singapore, complete with parades and fireworks.

Deze cursus is gebaseerd op een groot deel cursusmateriaal, verzameld door Dr. H. van der
Hecht, die zijzelf tijdens de zaterdagactiviteiten in de jaren 1980 en 1990 voorstelde onder
de titel « Introduction à la Théosophie ». In dankbaarheid werd deze cursus opgefrist en
herwerkt naar een moderne versie, om de studenten te helpen met het vormen van een
gestructureerd kader dat hen kan toelaten van het leven van vandaag te plaatsen in het licht
van de Eeuwige Wijsheid. Iedereen van harte welkom!
